Expert diagnosis and treatment for benign prostatic enlargement and urinary symptoms.

What is benign prostatic enlargement?

Benign prostatic enlargement (BPE), also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is a condition in which the prostate gland grows larger than normal. Symptoms suggestive of BPE could include:

  • Weak flow of urine
  • Difficulty to start urinating
  • Intermittency of urination (start and stop)
  • Frequency of urination
  • Urgency to urinate
  • Incomplete bladder emptying
  • Waking up at night to urinate

It is a very common condition, especially in men over the age of 50.

Diagnosis and treatment of BPE

It is important to seek medical advice if you are experiencing urinary symptoms due to benign prostatic enlargement because there is an underlying risk of possible long-term damage of the urinary tract (kidneys and/or bladder). Correct diagnosis and effective treatment are essential in managing BPE, preventing complications and improving quality of life.
